Expedition’s Expected Engine

Based on the 2021 Ford Expedition model, we expect the 2022 Expedition to feature a powerful engine. So, you can expect something like the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost® engine found in the 2021 model. This engine should arm you with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, providing plenty of muscle and acceleration on the local roadways.

This engine should also be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that will help optimize and deliver this force. This transmission also helps the SUV earn striking fuel economy figures—an EPA-estimated 17 city/23 highway MPG—which is especially impressive when considering the size and class of the vehicle.²

Size and Dimensions

On the inside, the Expedition should prove just as impressive. The 2022 Expedition is expected to offer 171.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, which will allow you to seat up to eight with ease when properly configured. This positions the Ford SUV as the perfect family companion, able to handle your needs whether you’re headed out on a road trip or need to drop the kids off at soccer practice.

The Expedition should also prove quite capable in the cargo-carrying department. Behind the third row, you should have around 20.9 cubic feet of cargo volume, which will prove plenty spacious for luggage and equipment. If you need to extend this space further, you could also fold down your second and third rows to create up to a maximum cargo volume of around 104.6 cubic feet.

Expedition’s Anticipated Driver-Assistive Technology

We also expect the Expedition to delight with some of its assistive technology, working to make your driving experience on the local roadways as easy and safe as possible. The 2021 model comes standard with a few impressive features we expect to carry over. For instance, a Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking helps monitor the roads ahead and prevent the potential for collision.
