In exploring the F-150, you’ll find that there are six different powertrains to choose from. Each offers a unique blend of displacement, cylinders, horsepower, and torque, making each engine appealing for different tasks.
In terms of the standard powertrain, you will find a 3.3L T-VCT V6 engine. This engine comes ready to pump out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, plenty of power, and acceleration for the local roadways. This engine is also mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will work to provide seamless gear shifting and optimized performance.

Thunderous Towing Capability
If you opt to go with the standard powertrain under the hood of your F-150, you can tow a maximum of 8,200 pounds when properly equipped. If you find that you need some enhanced towing prowess, the F-150’s available 3.5L EcoBoost® engine could be appealing. This increases your output to 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. However, perhaps more importantly, it allows you to increase your maximum towing capacity to 14,000 pounds and your maximum payload to 3,250 pounds when properly equipped.
